Lomilomi Massage Workshops:
3-Day Lomilomi ‘Oluea Techniques Workshop w/Ed Rockowitz March 19-21 (Fri 5-9pm, Sat-Sun. 10:30am-7:30pm) Lomilomi is a Hawaiian healing tradition with a focus on moving and clearing energy through the body. With Aloha, the power of intentions and the use of breath (ha) this flowing and graceful form of bodywork can be transforming to both the recipient as well as the practitioner.
• In this workshop, I will teach you my interpretations of Lomilomi and more specifically a unique, engaging style called Lomilomi ‘Oluea. The workshop will focus on bodywork techniques, however I’ll do my best to have a special guest to touch upon some of basic’s of the Hawaiian history, culture and symbolism that really makes this work so very special.
• You will learn new ways to use your forearms, elbows and hands as deep tissue techniques, traction strokes, lifts and bi-directional moves. In addition to powerful techniques, the training will be integrated in with functional anatomy and common pathologies.
• About me: I have been practicing Lomilomi ‘Oluea for over 8 years with over 500 hours of Lomilomi training in Maui, Hawaii. In ’07 received my orthopedic massage certification and prior worked with multiple Athletic Trainers & the medical staff during tournaments with the N. Cal Volleyball Association from 03-06 years. Altogether, my background makes s for a unique perspective of the body.
• This workshop although an introduction to lomilomi will be rather advanced training and will complement most other physical styles of bodywork.
